Well this is not exactly Greenhaven news, but it is about one of our brother
bands, and Matt and J. played on their new release and, well, it's the
funniest thing in the whole world so here is Danny North Side Kings' press
release about knocking out Glenn Danzig...
DANZIG frontman Glenn Danzig allegedly got into a scuffle with NORTH SIDE
KINGS singer and frequent SOULFLY collaborator Danny Marianinho following
DANZIG's performance in Tuba City, Arizona Saturday night (July 3). The
following is Marianinho's official statement regarding the incident, as
sent to BLABBERMOUTH.NET:
"Before crazy
rumors begin to spread I would like to explain what happened:
"NORTH SIDE KINGS
were to play with DANZIG last night in Tuba City, Arizona. To make a long
story short the whole show was a disaster and a few bands got bumped off.
Mr. Danzig (or his management??) refused to push back the original scheduled
time slot so NORTH SIDE KINGS and RAPID FIRE would have to play 'after'
his set. Whatever we agreed to play later because we drove 6 hours
and didn't feel like going home without playing.
"Needless to
say, as soon as DANZIG was finished, the venue turned on the lights and
DANZIG's crew and the staging company began to take the stage apart almost
instantly. I confronted Mr. Danzig backstage while he was signing autographs
and told him I thought he was an asshole because of his 'rock star' attitude
and no consideration towards the FEW other bands that got bumped off tonight.
In a fit of rage he turned around and slammed me into the wall yelling
'Fuck you, motherfucker,' trying to be a big, tough guy in front of his
fans. I, in self-defense, punched him in the face, knocking him out as
he was attacking me again. He went down, bleeding from his mouth, eyes
rolled back, and in shock that he got knocked to the floor so quickly.
"A friend happened
to tape the entire incident and this is all documented. Many witnesses
saw him attack me, and I did what any man would do.
"It was unfortunate
that this went the way it did and I hoped Glenn Danzig learned
a valuable lesson tonight: Do not lay your hands on anyone unless you
can handle what may happen.
"I apologize
for nothing, except for the poor little kids that had to witness this
big asshole get his ass kicked in a matter of seconds..."
Damn, it just keeps getting' funnier!

Well friends it seems
as though weve piledriven our way through another blood-strewn leg
of the journey. Weve hoovered more white heat, pounced more quiff,
and served as personal mentors in the ways of Rock Decadence more than
all the bands from the eighties with zs in their names put together!
Put Together!!* So now weve decided to take ourselves a little breaky-break
from gigs and let a few wounds heal.
It has been a good
little run though. We made the Southbound video (thanks Joe and Robert!),
put out the 7inch (and then some), played with some killer groups, and
won the New Times award for Best Hard Rock Band. Damn, it makes me tired
just writing it (of course, I dont have opposable thumbs so typing
is especially difficult). So thanks for all the support, and look for
us somewhere around summer's end, though we might peek our heads out of
the sand around the 4th of July.

In case you haven't noticed, Greenhaven has been real busy lately. Gigs,
gigs and more gigs, and were gonna keep it going all the way to the New
Times Music Showcase. Thats right, Greenhaven has once again been
nominated for best Hard Rock band in Phoenix. Go to http://phoenixnewtimes.com/musicshowcase/2004/music2004ballot/
to cast your vote now! There are are a lot of great bands in and out of
our category so the event should be a real blast this year, and don't
forget about our cronies in North Side Kings and Smoky Mountain Skullbusters.
And on a more serious
note, by now you've all heard about Uncle Dave's struggles with Yohimbe
abuse. We all support him in his battles with this so called "boner
herb," and expect
him to make a full recovery, or God help us all.

"Greenhaven has once again been nominated by the New Times for "Best
Hard Rock/Heavy Metal" band. More details to come as we get closer
to the April event. www.phoenixnewtimes.com"

Yee-haw! Now that's a rock show! Smoky Mountain Skullbusters, the reunited
Beats The Hell Out of Me and the G-haven. Good times at the Priceless
Inn in Tempe. For those of you in the AZ I highly encourage ya'll to frequent
this joint. They are for sure one of the few bright spots in the local
music scene right now. In other news, the band will all be at Jugheads
on the 31st to check out Whiskey Bitch and "Rumble on Styvesant Street"
which is Uncle Dave's cousin Skeeter's band. Thanks to all who have been
checking out the video, we have had some difficulties along the way but
it will definitely be available on cd-rom in a package with the 7inch(and
then some) by the end of February, or Bill Schumann will eat a frog. On
the upcoming gig horizon, the band will be part of "Desert Rampage"-a
big 'ol extreme sports fest at Tempe Town Lake on Saturday, February 7th.
Not sure what time yet but go to http://www.desertrampage.com/ for more
info.
Oh yea, we are revamping the site. The guestbook is up again and we will
be adding a few more things over the next few weeks. Excelsior.

Lots of thing happening in the Greenhaven world, so before things get
moving too fast we want to take a second and thank a few folks that have
been really helping out--"the elusive" Dan Stone who does our
flyers, built our site, and makes a hell of a rhubarb pie! Vickie Mueller
who is our resident techie/site fixer/idea girl, and Spanky, who once
held his breath over four minutes. Also wanna give big thanks to Larry
Mac at KUPD for keeping us on the airwaves, and the lovely Tracy Lea at
the Zone for all the help promoting the show on the 27th at Static. And
of course -YOU! (no not you Tom, the other people). Thanks for scratching
behind the ears of a furry old dog.

Alright, moving forward. Greenhaven is appearing Saturday, Sept. 27 @
Static. For those of you who have not been there go to the shows page
for further info. This show is gonna be crazy. Great lineup w/two of the
big boys 'round town - Bionic Jive and Redfield, and don't forget popular
newcomers Chagrin. Greenhaven hits the stage at 11:00 pm sharp, so come
early and get lubed as this is the first Greenhaven show in about four
months! There will be a few surprises in the song selection as well. Also
don't make any plans for Halloween as once again it will be Green! This
year at Chaser's with BLDG 5, more on that to come soon.

Ok. It looks like the boys have made some progress and are ready to try
out a few new songs. Where? In Wyoming of course! The guys in local heavy
hitters "Screenhit" have invited Greenhaven to trek on up to
Gillette with them for their annual Labor Day bash. Much fun, especially
'cuz I get the apartment all to myself, did somebody say dog party!! With
a Tucson show in the works as well, the guys should be ready to hit the
stage in Phoenix very soon. Also, despite a few setbacks we are still
looking at an early October release for the 7inch. Anyone know where a
little bitch can get a fake ID?

Man alive, it's f'in hot. Anyway, as you may have noticed g-haven has
been laying low for a little while, but there is still some cool stuff
going on. Thanks to John Holmberg and JJ Jeffries for playing "southbound"
this morning during "Morning Sickness" on KUPD, very cool. Also
getting some play in Fargo, ND on Q98, more info on that soon. Keep your
eyes out for the premier of "The Peephole", a short film featuring
matt in the lead role. A grisly tale of lust and homicidal insanity, fo
sure! Go to www.killingtimeproductions.com for more info in the next months.
And lastly we're looking at the end of august for the release of the 7inch.
